Here we suggest some quick tips and tricks to prolong the life of your Measuring Tape, and to ensure that remains accurate and reliable!
KEEP THE BLADE CLEAN
Keep the tape blade free from dirt and debris. Clean your Measuring Tape’s blade regularly with a lightly oiled cloth. Dirt and dust can erode the protective coating on the tape blade, leaving tape blade graduations susceptible to wear and tear.
KEEP YOUR STEEL BLADE DRY
Wipe your steel tape blade if it’s damp or has been used in wet or rainy conditions. Moisture left on the tape blade will enter the spring motor and may cause it to get rusty.
CONTROL THE SPEED OF RETRACTION
Control the speed of the retraction of the tape blade, by guiding the tape blade with one hand. Uncontrolled retraction can damage the components of the tape and risk the safety of people around you. If using a fibreglass tape, take adequate care to rewind your tape smoothly and steadily. This will ensure the winding mechanism remains intact.
